Diggable

earth compacted
under a shed
for a decade
deaf to the sun
a weave of ivy
yard-high fig
earth ignored
yet partial
to flora
calla sprout
Mexican sage
bearing peach
supine fuchsia
the cat’s nose
flares forward
roots a rock-
strewn stretch
clods of dirt
battable
pill bugs & bees
glittering flies
a slat fence
to squeeze under
up to now
a too small plot
not prone to
transformation
a purloined sprig
all-season greens
borage
