The Clubhouse
wreathed in my dream
by shrubs, roped by wisteria
here is stucco & tile clamped
to the desert, wind scoured,
the roadside plantings olive,
twisted 50-year stock
trucked from Mendoza,
so many bare leaved,
others warm to the site,
sprout green from tough-
skinned knobs, sand.
